When Will Enough Be Enough?

In this meditation, we explore what it would be like if this moment were enough. What if we could experience this moment as having everything we need?

Let's begin our meditation by finding a comfortable posture. This could be sitting, lying down or standing. If it feels okay to do so today, you can close your eyes. And we'll start by taking a deep breath together. In through the nose.

And slowly out through the mouth. You can invite the jaw to relax. The shoulders. And the belly. And eventually letting your breath settle back into its natural rhythm.

And start by feeling what it's like to be still. Getting more familiar with this quality of being, rather than our usual mode of constantly doing. You might even notice some of the momentum from the day or previous days, creating this sense of needing to do something or get somewhere, or fix, solve, achieve. All of which has its place in our life. And all of which can keep us on this never ending treadmill of striving for some future moment when everything will come together and then we can relax, then it will be enough.

So see what it's like to experience this moment as enough. Doesn't mean that there's not more to do or more that needs to be changed or problems that need to be solved. It's more an acknowledgement that you can experience wholeness and you can experience the fullness of your life as it is right now, in this moment. And so you can use this phrase as a mantra, this moment is enough. And each time you say it in your awareness, feel yourself integrated more deeply and settle into it more fully.

This moment is enough. So as we transition to the end of this meditation, let's take one more deep breath together. In through the nose. And slowly out through the mouth. And when you're ready, you can let your eyes open again.

Well done. This practice can be tough because it's clear that there are things happening in the world and in our lives, and even in our families that make this moment justifiably feel incomplete. Things need to shift and change and that's true. And yet there will always be something. And so we simultaneously, I believe, need to develop this capacity to be in our lives fully here to experience a sense of wholeness here with all of the incompleteness.

And that's a powerful practice to take with us into our life, with all of the change that still needs to be made. So thank you for doing the deep work. Thank you for your practice. I'll talk to you soon. Until we speak again, take care.
